Five significant families have owned what is now The Blair House Bed and Breakfast. It was originally built and owned by Nathaniel Willis, the first publisher of what is now the Chillicothe Gazette. It also passed through the hands of Thomas Worthington, Ohio's sixth Governor. From 1879 to 1990 it was owned by Ellen Tiffin Cook, first cousin to Lucy Webb Hayes.
